Swim Team Coach

The Position: The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Swim Team Coach for Campbell Wave Swim Team at the Campbell Community Center. Responsibilities: Under direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, is responsible for swim team coordination with Head Swim Coach, prepares and implements work-outs, tracks and encourages team enrollment, maintains various records, organizes meets, and evaluates stroke technique; assists with budget preparation; will also have thorough knowledge of emergency response protocol, risk management and emergency care; comply and enforce all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department policies and procedures. The essential functions of employment include: Assistance in developing, organizing and supervising daily operations and practices; assistance in evaluating Campbell Wave swim team program; program documentation including daily participant attendance; planning, execution and evaluation of swim meet participation; professional interaction and effective communication with children, swimmers and the general public.

$15.00 to $20.00 per hour DOQ Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Minimum age at time of hire is 18 years old. • Two (2) or more years of swim coaching experience • Valid California Driver’s license. • Current CPR certification. • Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training certification. • TB Clearance. • Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check). The City of Campbell will schedule fingerprint appointment and encumber cost upon hire. • Professional certification(s), including American Swim Coaches’ Association or USA Swimming Coaching highly desirable.

Lifeguard

The Position: The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking motivated, energetic, team-oriented individuals who enjoy working with youth and possess proficient swimming skills. Responsibilities: Under direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, is responsible for maintaining safety in and around swimming pools; conducting rescue operations; administering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillation (AED); instructing classes in various phases of swimming, diving and other aquatic activities; interacting professionally and communicate effectively with children, swimmers and the general public; writing reports; and preparing the pool for aquatic programs.

$10.00 to $15.50/hr Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Minimum age at time of hire is 16 years old. • Must be able to pass all American Red Cross Lifeguard Training requirements. *American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguard Training are desirable. Responsibilities: Under direct supervision of the Sports/Fitness Specialist, provide high level of customer service while performing daily operations of sports and fitness programs; monitoring associated facilities; processing transactions; maintaining equipment used for sports and fitness programs; ensure program and facility safety; interact professionally and communicate effectively with participants, the general public, and program supervisor. Specific responsibilities include: Adult Sports Gym Attendant- Supervision of volleyball, basketball, and badminton drop-in programs, maintain cleanliness of gyms, monitor sign in procedures, and process monetary transactions. Adult Basketball League Scorekeeper- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of gyms, record accurate game scores and statistics. Fitness Center Attendant- Supervision of Fitness Room, monitor sign in procedures of fitness program and lap swim participants, and process monetary transactions. Weight Room Attendant- Supervision of Weight Room, maintain cleanliness of facility, monitor sign in procedures, and process monetary transactions. Youth Basketball League Referee- Officiate youth basketball games, guide young players through positive feedback and reinforcement, explain rules of basketball, build and teach sportsmanship and teamwork, communicate effectively with players and parents.

$11.00 to $15.00 per hour DOQ Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Experience working with adult and youth sports programs in a recreational setting is desired, but not required. • Minimum age at time of hire is 17 years old. • Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check) if over 18 year old and assignment is related to Youth Sports.
